[Cooking] Overnight Oats

Description

This recipe is easy to make and tasty. I like it because it saves a ton of time in the morning. 25-30 minutes of prep work will give you breakfast for the week.

Ingredients

These are the ingredients and measurements PER SERVING.

  1. 0.5 Cup, Traditional Rolled Oatmeal (Not Instant)
  2. 0.5 Cup, Milk
  3. 1 8oz. Mason Jars / Tupperware / Other Sealing Container
  4. 1/8 Teaspoon Cinnamon
  5. 1 Tablespoon Honey
  6. Splash of Vanilla Extract

Directions

  1. Measure the oats into the container.
  2. Add the cinnamon.
  3. Add the honey.
  4. Add the milk.
  5. Add the vanilla extract.
  6. Seal the lid tightly on the container.
  7. Shake vigorously to mix the ingredients.
  8. Place in the refrigerator and leave overnight. The oatmeal will be good for 3-4 days. I have found that day two or three has the best taste.

Modifications

  • Adding milk will make the oatmeal creamier, reducing milk will make the oatmeal thicker.
  • Reduce the amount of honey to cut down on sugar.
  • When prepping you can also mix in flax seeds, chocolate chips, or peanut butter for example.
  • When you actually eat it, you can mix in fresh fruit such as berries or apples. If you put fruit in overnight it tends to get mushy and gross.
